The Client:

GumGum is a pioneer in contextual intelligence, using advanced AI to analyze everything from text and images to video—making digital advertising not just smarter, but more human. With a mission grounded in authentic connection and cutting-edge innovation, the brand knew its presence at POSSIBLE needed to deliver on all fronts.

Held in April at the Fontainebleau Miami Beach, POSSIBLE is one of the ad tech industry’s fastest-growing conferences. More than 7,500 senior marketers, media executives, tech leaders, and culture-makers gathered to hear from names like Issa Rae and Terry Crews, plus executives from major brands like YouTube, Pinterest, Refinery29, and AT&T.

This was the third year Sequence partnered with GumGum to bring their POSSIBLE activation to life.

Sequence designed and produced GumGum's Mindset Lounge, transforming a 20'x40' booth into an immersive brand experience that included interactive engagement, content creation, VIP hospitality, and a Match Market swag activation.

The Challenge:

GumGum held one of the event’s most visible footprints: a 20’×40’ booth in the outdoor Expo Garden, representing a significant presence and investment for the brand.

GumGum came in with three key priorities: showcasing their unique Mindset differentiator to industry leaders, unlocking new connections with brands and agencies, and deepening relationships with existing clients and partners. On the ground, that translated into a concrete target: increase the number of sales meetings actually happening inside the booth space.

In previous activations, we leaned into nostalgia—a creative nod to the timeless fundamentals of great marketing like connection, creativity, and fun. This year, the challenge for Sequence was to go deeper: to translate GumGum's core product differentiator into an immersive physical experience that felt fresh, relevant, and unmistakably on-brand.

The Solution:

During the discovery phase, one insight shaped everything: GumGum didn't just want to show up at POSSIBLE; they wanted to own a concept and reestablish themselves as The Mindset Company. The question became: how do you make an abstract idea feel tangible and experiential?

The answer was "Mindset Moments" a concept exploring how real-time signals, recent digital activity, and situational cues come together to shape how people respond in any given moment.

Sequence brought that idea to life through a fully customized environment that invited attendees to move through distinct contextual zones. Each space represented a familiar everyday situation and corresponding emotional state, expressed through a carefully coordinated palette inspired by Plutchik's Wheel of Emotions.

Color blocking across walls, flooring, furniture, and lighting reinforced each mood, while gradient graphics illustrated the transitions between mindsets. Iridescent accents and digital touchpoints added layers of interaction, allowing guests to experience—not just hear about—how context influences behavior.

Other highlights included…

  • The Match Market, where attendees answered a short mindset quiz and received swag matched to their results, transforming a giveaway into a personalized brand interaction and lead-generation opportunity. Branded Bevi water stations positioned throughout the conference, extending GumGum's presence while reinforcing the idea that mindset exists in every moment and every context.
  • An exclusive VIP dinner bringing together key decision-makers for an intimate evening of relationship-building, one that has welcomed names like DJ Khaled and Rick Ross to the table.
  • Onsite content creation, including Mindset Snapshots, a series of one-on-one interviews hosted by CEO Marcus Startzel exploring the intersection of mindset and advertising.

Rather than simply explaining GumGum's contextual intelligence platform, the activation immersed attendees in it, transforming a complex technology story into an experience they could see, feel, and interact with.

The Results:

The activation quickly became one of the most buzzed-about spaces at POSSIBLE, serving as both a high-traffic destination and a content creation hub.

  • The "Match Market" swag experience earned organic buzz well beyond the booth itself.
  • The activation caught the attention of industry voices, earning organic features from @viralnation and advertising influencer @stuffaboutadvertising on Instagram.
  • The booth surpassed its goals across the board, reaching 650+ engagements and 187 meetings against targets of 600 and 145, respectively.
  • The activation generated content that extended well beyond the event, including interviews and episodes of the ongoing Mindset Snapshots series.
  • The VIP dinner helped strengthen relationships with key clients and prospects in a more intimate setting.

This activation marked a milestone in the growing partnership between GumGum and Sequence Events. From early concept development to flawless on-site execution, Sequence helped translate a bold creative idea into an experience that delivered measurable business value.
